Bulbul Hotel
Our Story
Our Story

After years living and working abroad, we created Bulbul Bed & Breakfast to share the beauty of our home country and the broader Bilad Al Sham region (Levantine), bringing guests the same warmth and cultural richness we experienced growing up and later every time we visited home.

The apart-hotel is housed in a renovated building. The basement and ground floors date back to the 1950s; the first floor was added in the 1990s; and two additional floors were constructed in 2018. Above all, we chose a renovation, not a demolition. Our goal was to preserve and reimagine, so the story of the building and Weibdeh's heritage could continue to shine through, with regional architectural details, natural light, and warm interiors (with plenty of house plants!).

We strive to offer a more authentic perspective of Amman than what cookie-cutter hotels provide. No two rooms are exactly alike; each suite has its own personality, yet they all share the same spirit and warmth. Guests can experience Bulbul B&B in a fresh way with each visit, capturing the essence of what a boutique hotel should be. Jabal Al Weibdeh, Amman's most vibrant cultural neighborhood, is where Bulbul Bed & Breakfast truly belongs.

Concept & Inspiration

Our vision for Bulbul Bed & Breakfast was shaped by the comforting memories of a teta’s home (grandmother), the soft glow of lamps, embroidered linens, floral wallpaper, and a quiet sense of warmth in every corner. From the beginning, we aimed to preserve these familiar details while thoughtfully integrating modern comforts and smart technology, creating a welcoming space that feels intimate and lived-in.

Inspired by Belad Al Sham and the wider Arab region, our design draws from local architectural and decorative traditions. Textured glass, pastel toned joinery, patterned tiles, embroidered fabrics, and handcrafted wood details come together to reflect a rich cultural heritage rooted in place, memory, and craftsmanship passed down through generations.

Each element was chosen with intention, balancing nostalgia with contemporary living. Bulbul B&B stands as a heartfelt tribute to our past, a labor of love designed for travelers who value authenticity, comfort, and a deeper emotional connection to where they stay.

Our Neighbourhood

Narrow streets, old stone houses, the scent of jasmine and birdsong fill your senses on a quiet day. A walk through Jabal Al-Weibdeh feels like stepping back into an older, simpler era. Overlooking the Citadel and Amman’s hills, you sense the connection between the city’s past and present. Look carefully at the skyline and you’ll see it dotted with kites, a pastime that has lasted generations. A short walk down its old stairs and you find yourself in old downtown’s bustling souqs, where the smell of spices and the calls of shopkeepers take over.

Over the past few years, Weibdeh has become a cultural hotspot, with cafés, restaurants, bars, boutique shops, and art galleries. The community is a mix of newer local and expat residents, artists, and filmmakers, alongside old-timers who have watched their hill change over the years.

We hope to play a role in preserving the Weibdeh we love, to respect its heritage and to help it prosper.
